Ozone decreases inflammation locally, aids the immune system and nerves by supplying nutrients and oxygen to the area, and helps with the flow of lymph and interstitial fluid. These affects can be done with injections and/or systemic ozone treatments such as ozonating the blood. Prolozone injections are quite safe and extremely beneficial around a spinal cord injury that is often lacking in oxygen after a traumatic event. While results are not guaranteed ozone is one of the few options that can reinvigorate existing nerve branches in the area and provide nutrients and support around nerves that are dormant or nonfunctional, which does not ‘heal’ the actual spinal cord injury, yet improves patient functioning by ensuring inflammation is down and nutrient flow is optimized where the prolozone is injected.
