Burns

Ozone for Burns and Scars

Mild First and Second Degree Burns are able to be treated at home. Yet even minor burns can cause significant scars. Ozone therapy in the forms of ozonated saline, ozonated oils, ozone bagging, and injections provide significant healing and greatly reduce scar formations from burns, even reducing scars that are years old.

How Ozone Helps Recovery in Burns, Scars, and Skin Issues

Ozone accelerates cell turnover in the skin as well as internally in the body

Ozone therapy provides an additional amount of oxygen that is delivered to the cells of your skin, which results in an increase of cell proliferation, growth and renewal. The more rapid the rate in which cells are replaced, the more rapid the process of healing the skin's burns, wounds or irregularities, including cellulite. Ozone can be applied externally on the skin by covering the affected area with plastick, or bagging the area if it is an extremity, or using a small glass cup to cover the area if it is a spot treatment. Ozonated oil can also be purchased and applied at home by the patient. Internally, ozone can be done in High dose IV therapy to speed healing from the inside out.

It stimulates collagen production and elastin production

Collagen and elastin are naturally occurring protein fibers that are found in connective tissues across the body. They help maintain flexibility, elasticity and hydration for the skin while allowing the skin to regain its original form after being poked, stretched or pulled.

As we age, collagen and elastic are created at a slower rate, which ultimately alters the skin's structure, leading to skin irregularities.

In burn patients, older patients, or any patient with other skin issues, ozone therapy enhances the cells ability to create collagen and elastin, which helps to heal injuries, burns, wounds, or scars, reduce wrinkles, firmness and tightness of the skin, and reduce the signs of aging.
